| Late Stage Alcohol Recovery: |
What's that?
After a few years of sobriety, thanks to Alcoholics Anonymous and the 12 steps, some people may feel they need something in addition to the AA Fellowship. If that's you, counseling might be helpful.
|
| Psychodynamic Therapy: |
What does that mean?
People often defend against painful feelings—which is fine except when the defenses get in the way of having a good life.
When approaching from a psychodynamic perspective, the focus is on gaining an awareness and an understanding of true feelings and their origins. That understanding can shed light on many behaviors. Once this relationship is understood, better life choices can be made.
|
| Systems Therapy: |
How does that work?
In all relationships there are patterns: patterns in what we say and how we say it, patterns in the way we react... Often these patterns are so familiar we are unaware of them. In couples and families these patterns may have become so entrenched and unhealthy that even though they don't get us what we want, we follow them anyway.
The work of systems counseling is to identify and untangle the unhealthy patterns and discover more productive ways of relating.
