The better our relationships, the more joyful our lives.
THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES
Therapies used:
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy:
People often adopt faulty thinking patterns that lead to emotional and behavioral problems. The way we think about things determines how we feel and act. Therapy provides an opportunity to learn better ways of thinking and coping. CBT is active, directive, time-limited, present-centered and structured.

  • Family Systems Therapy:
Families are systems. Couples are systems. Change in one part of the system will result in change in other parts. Understanding family-of-origin provides a context for understanding the way couples function in their own relationships. Treatment focuses on the couple as a unit. Interventions may include communication skill-building, boundary-setting, and homework assignments.

  • Psychodynamic Therapy:
People have a capacity for self-awareness and change. In order to become fully successful, they need insight into their behaviors and emotions. With insight, they can confront and resolve inner conflicts. Treatment involves listening, making interpretations, reframing negative events, and supporting positive change. A Psychodynamic approach usually requires more sessions than CBT.
